AFP, MMDA force sudden deaths
MANILA, Philippines - AFP Cavaliers and MMDA Black Wolves stayed in title hunt as they beat their respective rivals in the UNTV Cup Season 2 in the semifinal round at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig last Sunday.
The Cavaliers defeated the Judiciary Magis, 75-67, while the Black Wolves trounced the PNP Responders, 88-79.
Alvin Idanan, Eugene Tan, Winston Sergio and Roland Pascual combined for 40 points for the Cavaliers, who bucked the Magis’ twice-to-beat edge.
PJ Villanueva fired 25 points to anchor the Black Wolves’ victory over Responders in the other game.
PNP swept the eight-game elims but struggled to shake off the long layoff, enabling the Black Wolves to post the win.
The pair of rubber matches will be played Sunday with the winners disputing the crown.
