Ceres-La Salle gains UFL 2nd division
MANILA, Philippines - Ceres-La Salle pooled 54 points behind an impressive 89-goal production as it topped the Second Division to gain promotion for the next season of the United Football League.
The Bacolod-based squad claimed the second-tier crown in style, posting 17 victories and three draws while yielding just one match with only game left to be played.
Manila Jeepney also secured promotion as it bucked a slump late in February to end up with 46 points, consisting of 15 wins, a draw against five losses. The acquisition of key players Jaham Taher, Ref Cuaresma, and Jake Morallo during the March window improved the club significantly at a crucial point of the season.
Ceres-La Salle, a two-time PFF National Club Championship champion, which conceded 17 goals, did fall short in the recent AFC President’s Cup but the team is upbeat of its chances next season where it will go up against heavyweights Global, Loyola Meralco Sparks, Kaya, and Stallion Giligan’s.
