AMA-Team B unbeaten in Got Skills 17-under

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The AMA Junior Titans of coach Mark Herrera remained unbeaten after five games and reached the quarterfinals of the 2014 Got Skills 17-under tournament recently.

The Junior Titans dislodged Xavier for the top seed after beating St. Jude, 71-64, and Ateneo Prada, 65-55.

“This is unexpected, beating such big teams like Ateneo Paya and Prada and even San Beda Alabang,” said Herrera, also the head coach of the U-13 Growee team that will see action in Cebu in November.

The team is composed of 10 rookies from the basketball project of Quezon City Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte and AMA University owner Amable Aquiluz V, who are helping public school players to be a part of the AMA sports program headed by AMA first vice president Arnel Hibo and Herrera.

The Junior Titans, sponsored by Johnny Rockets, AMA Bank and Budha Bar, also won over San Benildo and St. Jude Catholic School.

Herrera is assisted by Bobby Andaya, Eugene Bautista and Edwin Ancheta.
