Paduganan, Tortal lead winners in Cebuana leg
MANILA, Philippines - Misamis Oriental native Auden Aaron Paduganan continued his domination of the 16 and 18-under categories while Surigao’s Rupert Ohrelle Tortal duplicated the feat in the 10 and 12-under in the Cebuana Lhuillier Age Group Tennis Championship Series in Bais City.
Paduganan posted an easy 6-2 , 6-4 win over Clyde Mari Casino for the 16-under crown and repeated it in the 18-U with an even easier 6-2, 6-2 triumph over Jeff Balatero.
Multi-titled Tortal beat Bacolod’s Fern Alekzander Po, 4-1, 4-0 in the 10-U unisex age group and likewise captured the 12-U title with a three set win over Guillian Bandoquillo of Dumaguete, 5-7, 6-4, 11-9.
Siquijor’s Fahd Kenneth Banico was extended by Duma Hakim Boloto in the 14-under title match before prevailing, 7-5, 1-6, 10-7.
Local bet Angela Cabral averted a shutout for the host city in the girls’ division with a 6-0, 7-6 triumph over Cebu’s Shynne Villareal in the 18-U finals. Earlier Villareal edged Cabral in the 16-U, 6-4, 6-2.
The other girls’ division winners were Gennifer Lysandra Pagente over Tricia Francisco 6-4, 7-6 (14-U), and Bliss Bayking over Ellaine Rose Bahonsua 6-0, 6-4 ( 12-U).
