Tigers, Altas top Martin Cup elims

MANILA, Philippines - UST and Perpetual Help posted contrasting wins over their respective rivals to sweep their elimination round assignments in the 20th Fr. Martin Cup summer basketball tournament at the San Beda gym in Mendiola yesterday.

Kim Lo scored on a drive at the buzzer as the Growling Tigers edged the Lyceum Pirates, 71-69, to top Group B with a seven-game sweep while the Altas drew 18 points from GJ Ylagan to thump the CEU-Malolos Scorpions, 101-74, for a 9-0 card in Group A.

UST and Perpetual Help thus clinched the first two semifinal berths in the tournament.

Enderun College, meanwhile, got double-digit outputs from Earl Maravilla, Willie Kamguia and Jordan Rios as the turned back the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals, 82-74.
