MANILA, Philippines - Dick Marquez and Tony Cembrano ran away with the overall net crown with consistent scores in the aggregate and better-ball formats in the 17th Limestone Tee, the member-guest tournament of the Eastridge Golf and Country Club course in Binangonan, Rizal recently.
Marquez chalked up 49 points and Cembrano 48 for 97 in aggregate play then returned to assemble 42 in the best-ball format for 139 points, which proved too hot to handle for the rest of the 300-strong field of the tourney backed by Atty. Gilberto Duavit, Mountaingate Golf Services Inc. and The Turf Company Inc. as major sponsors.
Ton Asistio and Oliver Gan claimed the low gross plum with their 111 points that was also good for a runaway victory.
The tandems of Junnel Roxas-Ian Ignacio, Ramon Fernando-Emil Alviar, Peter Balinnang-Reynaldo Velasco and Eric del Rosario-Nilo Mercado were the division winners.
The event also had Agrexplore Corp., Art Carts Inc., D.R. Robles Construction / J. G. Gutierrez Construction, Dell Equipment and Construction Corp., Dir. Gerry Limlingan, Globallife Communication Solutions, Lionship Phils., Inc., Marban Security, Segye Master Service One Corp. as minor sponsors and Casino Filipino Pavilion, Ford Cainta, Mizuno, Texas Eagle and Yamaha Philippines as hole-in-one sponsors.
Roxas-Ignacio won Division 1 by two points over Zaldy Villa-Eddie Bagtas with their 124, Fernando-Alviar finished six clear of Ed Gaspe-Pelagio Alcantara in Division 2 with their 132, Balinnang-Velasco pooled 127 for a four-point win over Ramon Roldan-Rouel Quito and Del Rosario-Mercado finished four up on Byron Tabada-Sal Valenzuela after a 132.
William Uy and Luis Chipeco took the low net trophy among the sponsors teams with their 42 while Edmund Yee-William Lao had the best gross of 79.
Donors included Alpha Quality Express, Emperador Deluxe, G&W Clubshares, Inc, Gainers Marketing, Grand Jeviro Marketing, Limketkai Luxe Hotel, Magnolia Pure Water, Megafiber, The First Enterprises and Thunderbird Resorts.
