VBF fencing slated Sunday

MANILA, Philippines - Vicious Brainiac Fencing (VBF) holds its annual Recreational-Veterans Gladiators’ Cup  Sunday at Ultra Fencing Hall, Philsports Complex in Pasig.

“This fencing tournament is aimed to provide ex-national team players and former UAAP varsity fencers, as well as hobbyists, an opportunity to not only play against their peers; but also to rekindle friendship and foster camaraderie,” said Peter So, head organizer.

“We are aiming to increase awareness and participation in fencing, as it is a sport in which the Filipino can definitely excel in.”

Expected to grace the event is Richard Gomez, former national team fencer and currently president of the Philippine Fencing Association (PFA).

The event is sponsored by Gatorade energy drink, Kopiko coffee candy and Burlington sports socks. Cash prizes and medals are at stake.

Fencing bouts start at 8:30 a.m., and admission is free.
