MANILA, Philippines - Eric Olivarez, Marcen Gonzalez, John Bryan Decasa, Iggy Pantino, Nikki Ong, Nicole Amistad and Monica Cruz headline a crack roster of junior players slugging it out in the 2014 First Gen-Juntaphil Metro Age Group Tennis Championships, which get going today at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center.
Eleven matches in the boys’ premier 18-Under division and three in the girls’ side are on tap in the opener of the week-long tournament although the younger, rising stars will dominate the action with hostilities in the 10-unisex, 12-under girls’, 14-U boys’, 16-U girls.
Top seed Miguel Vicencio kicks off his title drive in the 10-unisex as he clashes with Hailey Agustin while third seed James Cruz collides with Jeremy Imperial; No. 4 Edgardo Angara takes on Kaye Emana; sixth ranked Von Saraza faces off with Stone Wu, and No. 7 Joaquin de Leon tangles with JB Cuarto.
Second seed Macie Carlos sees action tomorrow as he collides with Yusof Burahan in the Group I tournament which stakes ranking points, according to the organizing Juntaphil, headed by Edward Puno.
