MANILA, Philippines – The San Beda Red Lions, the Far Eastern University Tamaraws and the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals repulsed their rivals Tuesday to stay in contention for the semifinal berths in the 20th Fr. Martin Summer Cup basketball tournament at the St. Placid gymnasium of the San Beda College-Manila campus in Mendiola.
Donald Tankoua fired 30 points while Mykol Sorela shot 18 for the Red Lions as they held of the RP-under 17 national team, 81-57.
Ron Dennison and August Denila hit 12 points apiece for the FEU Tams, who fended off the San Sebastian Stags, 93-66.
Jerald Serrano carved out 24 points for the EAC Generals, who trounced the Centro Escolar University-Malolos Scorpions, 83-72.
The Red Lions picked up their fifth win in seven games in Group B while the Generals improved their win-loss record to 5-3, and they are in contention for a one of two semis berths in the bracket, according to commissioner Robert de la Rosa.
The Tams now have a 2-3 slate in Group A.
In earlier games, Allen Enriquez banged in 14 points for the Arellano University Chiefs in their 90-50 swamping of the Scorpions last Monday.
The Chiefs gained a 3-3 slate in Group A.
Jojo Antiporda tallied 16 points for the Adamson Baby Falcons, who outplayed the FEU Baby Tamaraws, 70-46, and hiked their slate to 4-1 in Group A of the junior contest.
This put the Baby Falcons in contention for quarterfinal seat in the junior side.
