Mt. Malarayat hosts PGF Junior Masters

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The last batch of qualifiers for the national finals of the Philippine Golf Foundation Junior Masters will be known in the Southern Luzon eliminations leg being played at the Mt. Malarayat Golf and Country Club in Lipa, Batangas.

A total of 78 players aged 6 to 17 years old are entered in the competition which affirms the PGF’s commitment to nationwide talent development in collaboration with the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines.

“We have seen quite a lot of natural in this series and we can only thank the PGF for having this vision of grassroots development,” said JGFP president Luigi Tabuena.

Proof to this is the PGF’s funding of the trip of the Visayas and Mindanao qualifiers to the national finals on May 28-30 at the Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club in Gen. Trias, Cavite.

The Mt. Malarayat stop is shaping up to be the toughest qualifying tournament with the participation of standouts of the ICTSI-JGFP summer circuit.

Among those vying for slots are Raymart Tolentino, Dan Cruz, Aidric Chan, Annyka Cedo, Josh Jorge and ICTSI stablemates Abby Arevalo, Sam Martirez and Sofia Chabon.

The top two finishers in the six age-groups for boys and girls of the 36-hole event will advance to the national finals which will also feature the qualifiers from the Northern Luzon leg played at the Baguio Country Club, the Visayas leg hosted by Cebu Country Club and the Mindanao leg held at Del Monte.
