Lualhati Cup golf to honor late UE exec

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The first Lualhati Cup golf tournament will be held May 27 at Wack Wack with a banner field expected to see action in the event also serving as a fund-raiser for various UE alumni projects.

Open to all golf enthusiasts, team and individual players, the event will be held in honor of its chief organizer, Dr. Jesus Tanchanco Sr., who passed away last April 14.

Registration is ongoing with fee pegged at P5,000, inclusive of green and caddie fees, breakfast, lunch and snacks plus souvenir items and a raffle ticket.

For details on the event and the UE Alumni Association Inc. (UEAAI) programs, contact the UEAAI Secretariat at 735-8562 or 7358557 (ask for Camille, JP, or Josie); or email [email protected], [email protected], or visit the UE website: www.ue.edu.ph.

The Lualhati Cup is a brainchild of Dr. Tanchanco Sr., who was the incumbent UE executive director, UE Alumni Association Inc. adviser and UE Alumni Foundation Inc. chairman. He was the prime mover and Steering Committee chairman of the Lualhati Cup.

Proceeds of the event will help fund the UE alumni scholarship program for underprivileged but deserving students, as well as UE students who were victims of the super typhoon Yolanda/Haiyan.

As the National Food Authority chief administrator, Tanchanco was also involved with the “Project: Gintong Alay”, supplying the needed food to all athletes. He was also the team manager of the UE Red Warriors men’s basketball team from 2009 to 2013.
