Mercedes Trophy up at Sta. Elena

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - An unforgettable day of golf awaits the Mercedes-Benz owners and guests when the MercedesTrophy Philippine Final tees off tomorrow at the Sta. Elena Golf and Country Club in Cabuyao, Laguna.

An already filled-up roster of 216 participants had signed up for this ninth edition, organized by CATS Motors Inc., ensuring another full field as the tournament gears up for its first successful decade in 2015.

Lucky ace makers could bring home a spanking new Mercedes-Benz CLS 350 car, a Canon 6D DSLR camera with 24-105mm lens, or a TW Steel watch at the designated par-3 holes.

Coinciding with the country leg, sponsored by Makati Shangri-La, Pilipinas Shell, PLDT Alpha, QBE Seaboard Insurance, and TW Steel, is the silver anniversary of the worldwide MercedesTrophy of Mercedes-Benz.

Mercedes-Benz, a staunch supporter of golf, is a partner of the Masters in Augusta, The Open Championship, PGA of America and Ryder Cup.  Bernhard Langer and Adam Scott are brand ambassadors.

Because it is the 25th year of the most prestigious golf tournament in the automotive world, winners last year can join the already filled-up roster of 216 Mercedes-Benz owners and guests competing, organiZers said.

This gives former winners another shot at the Asian Final in Australia in August.

“The exemption is for this year only, as part of the celebration,” said CATS Motors president Felix Ang, who with chairman Greg Yu, will lead the opening ceremony.

Registration starts at 7 a.m. with the opening rites at 9:30. Shell and PLDT Alpha side events with prizes await the players before the shotgun tee off at 10.

Asia Brewery, Business Mirror, Canon Philippines, IZOD (official outfitter), Johnnie Walker, Philippine Airlines and Security Bank are co-sponsors.
