Growee 13-U tourney today

MANILA, Philippines - The Phl 13-under Growee team holds a mini tournament starting today at the Philsports Arena in Pasig.

Organized by AMA sports director Mark Herrera, supported by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas and sponsored by Growee and AMA University, the tournament will involve four teams coached by Bobby Andaya, Edwin Ancheta, Bennie Diswe and Tisoy Angeles.

Herrera said each team is composed of 15 players culled from various public and private schools.

“This is the second time we are staging this tournament with the support of Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas executive director Sonny Barrios,” Herrera said.

Former players of the Phl 13-under who played in this tournament last year were Michael and Mathew Nieto and Jolo Mendoza of Ateneo and Phl 16-under players Kobe and Andre Paras, Renzo Subido of La Salle Zobel, Arvin Tolentino and Randel Tongco of San Beda, Hubert Cani of NU, Jarred Lim and Jacob Ejercito of Xavier, Carlos Garcia of UE and Milo Castro of Letran.
