Responders stop Cavaliers, stay unbeaten
MANILA, Philippines - Philippine National Police came through with clutch plays and eked out a 71-79 decision over Armed Forces of the Philippines to stretch its win run to seven in the UNTV Cup Season 2 at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City last Sunday.
The Responders slugged it out with the Cavaliers majority of the way but came through down the stretch to foil their rivals’ bid and keep their streak going.
The Cavaliers dropped to 4-2 in a tie with the Malacanang Patriots at third.
Defending champion Judiciary,w with Ariel Capus firing 30 points, hauling down eight rebounds and making four steals, trounced Senate, 79-71, to gain solo second at 5-1.
Francis Adriano dished out a stirring triple-double job of 49 points, 17 rebounds and 11 assists to power the LGU Vanguards to a 103-97 win over House Of Representatives Solons.
Senate slid to 2-4.
Adriano also had four steals but made four errors for the Vanguards, who stayed in the Final Four race with a 3-4 slate. The was HOR’s fifth straight.
