NGAP holds qualifier for Phl Open berths

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The National Golf Association of the Philippines will hold an 18-hole qualifying tournament on May 12 for the last five slots to the 2014 ICTSI Philippine Open presented by the MVP Sports Foundation and PLDT.

Professionals and amateurs from all over the country are welcome to play provided that pros must have existing professional association IDs. For amateurs to be allowed, they must have a UNHS index of three or better.

The composite Mount Malarayat layout in Lipa City will host the qualifying event with the NGAP to charge a minimal fee of P2,500 for local players and P3,000 for foreign bidders.

Only reigning men’s national champion Rupert Zaragoza and national team member Justin Quiban have been given direct acceptance into the Open proper by the NGAP.

The Open, a $300,000 event, fires off May 15 with some of the region’s top players and local aces vying for top honors at Wack Wack’s East layout in Mandaluyong City.
