MANILA, Philippines - Marikina trampled Quezon City, 62-54, to post its third straight win and pace Group B in the 2014 Coca-Cola PBA Youngstars Basketball Tournament at the Ynares Center in Pasig last Tuesday.
Alwyn Santos scored 15 points and Adolph Salinas added 14 as Marikina seized control early, 23-6, then foiled QC’s repeated rallies.
Earl Salazar shot 19 points and Ryan Amsali added 15 markers for QC, which fell to 1-2.
In the other game, Antipolo drew 22 points from John Paul Gozo and rallied from a 27-31 halftime deficit to beat San Juan, 61-54. Ryan Jason Lagradilla added 14 points.
San Juan, meantime, absorbed its third loss in four games, with Ryan Manalo tossing in 19 points.
Meanwhile, Quezon City faces San Juan at 9 a.m., Marikina battles Pasig (1-2) at 10:20 a.m., and Group A co-leader Parañaque (3-0) meets Manila-KABAKA (2-1) at 11:40 a.m. tomorrow at the JCSGO gym in Cubao.
