MANILA, Philippines - Mandaluyong, Tayabas and La Union each sent three boxers to the finals of the 2014 PLDT-ABAP Luzon Area Boxing Tournament at Central School in Infanta, Quezon yesterday.
Mandaluyong’s Luis Evander Borje won by TKO over Tayabas’ Fracis Kim Rubio in the jr. boys 54kg. bantamweight division semifinals, Robert Onggocan shut out Tayabas’ Joel Ramos, 3-0, in youth boys 56kg. pinweight class, and Jaye Arre Arcilla outpointed Tayabas’ Jeric Ferrer, 2-1, in the youth boys 49kg. light flyweight division.
Borje goes for the gold against La Union’s Lawrence Ordonio, who defeated Nueva Vizcaya’s Christian Jay Gamboa, 2-1.
Onggocan will face La Union’s Billy Joe Torres, a 2-1 winner over Quezon Province’s Ronnel Ausa, while Arcilla tangles with Occidental Mindoro’s Jose Peldiguera Jr., who routed La Union’s Danny Boy Tan, 3-0.
In other semis matches, Tayabas’ Jonjie Maritana stopped via TKO University of Baguio’s Eljay Tapara in the jr. boys 46kg. pinweight category.
He fights Sorsogon’s Mark Magas, TKO winner over Nueva Vizcaya’s Allan Jay Lumauig.
Archie Esteleydes of Tayabas outpointed Sorsogon’s Reymak Foster, 2-1, in the jr. boys 50kg. flyweight division.
Jessie Diaz, also of Tayabas, routed Mandaluyong’s Jerome Clavie, 3-0, in the youth boys 52kg. flyweight class.
He disputes the title with Occidental Mindoro’s Reynane Ganal Jr., who won by TKO over Ryan Torres of La Union.
