Six Tayabas pugs enter ABAP Luzon semis

MANILA, Philippines - Six Tayabas boxers and four each from Mandaluyong and La Union advanced Friday to the semifinals of the 2014 PLDT-ABAP Luzon Area Boxing Tournament at Central School in Infanta, Quezon.

Nueva Vizcaya, Sorsogon and Mindoro Occidenal entered two fighters each, while host Quezon Province and University of Baguio have one man left standing.

Eljay Taparo of UB faces Jonjie Maritana of Tayabas and Mark Magas of Sorsogon meets Allan Jay Lumauig of Nueva Viscaya in the Jr. boys 46kg pin weight division; Archie Esteleydes  of Tayabas battles Reymark Foster of Sorsogon in the Jr. boys 50kg flyweight class;  Luis Evander Borje of Mandaluyong clashes with Francis Kim Rubio of Tayabas, and Christian Jay Gamboa of Nueva Vizcaya collides with Lawrence Ordonio of La Union in the Boys 54kg bantamweight division;

Robert Onggocan of Mandaluyong trades punches with Joel Ramos of Tayabas, and Ronnel Ausa of Quezon Province tests Billy Joe Torrres of La Union in Youth boys 46kg pin weight; Jose Peldiguera Jr. of Occidenal Mindoro battles Danny Boy Tan of La Union, and Jeric Ferrer of Tayabas goes to war against Jaye Arre Arcilla of Mandaluyong in Youth boys 49 kg light flyweight; and Jessie Diaz of Tayabas meets Jerome Clavite of Mandaluyong, while Reynante Ganal Jr. of Occidenal Mindoro faces Ryan Torres of La Union in Youth boys 52kg flyweight.

On opening day, Jonjie Maritana of Tayabas defeated Riel Crampatanta of Mandaluyung, 3-0, and Mark Magas of Sorsogon beat Bimbo Almosara of Quezon Province, 3-0, in Jr. boys 46kg pin weight; Danny Boy Tan of La Union bested Fernel Gaspi of UB, 2-1, in Youth boys 49kg light flyweight; and Jerome Clavite of Mandaluyong shut out Joel Penamora of Infanta, 3-0, in Youth boys 52kg flyweight.
