Altas, Generals pace Martin Cup

MANILA, Philippines - University of Perpetual Help and Emilio Aguinaldo College turned back their respective rivals to post their second straight win in the 20th Fr. Martin Summer Cup basketball tournament at the Trinity University of Asia gym in QC last Thursday.

Ardy Dizon and Earl Thompson fired 15 and 11 points, respectively, as the Altas held off the Ateneo-B Blue Eagles, 67-62.

Sidney Onwuberre, meanwhile, scored 11 points as the EAC Generals thwarted the National University-B Bulldogs, 70-65, to tie the Altas at 2-0 in Group A.

In junior action, Kins Go shot 10 points as the NU Bullpups subdued Xavier School,  78-74.
San Beda-B won by default over Far Eastern U, and so did Fatima over the UST.

Dizon’s first of three triples at the start of the second half sparked the Altas’ surge, 30-24, and his second trey gave the Las Pinas-based squad a 44-35 lead at the end of the period.
The Altas sustained their charge and sat n a 48-35 cushion at the onset of the fourth when Dizon nailed his last triple.
