Power Pinays out of Asian Club tilt

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - PLDT Home TVolution Philippines took a stinging 25-7, 25-13, 25-12 defeat from title contender Hisamitsu Spring Japan to bow out of the 2014 Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship in Nakhon Pathom, Thailand yesterday.

The Power Pinays, who made it to the quarters by finishing fourth in the six-team Group B with a 2-3 (win-loss) record, proved no match to the power-hitting Japanese, falling to the consolation pool.

The Phl, however, will try to surpass its men’s counterparts’ seventh place finish in the Asian Men’s Club Championship recently as it goes for a best fifth place finish in the event.

The Power Pinays will play the loser of the showdown between Zhetyssue Almaty Kazakhstan and Lien Viet Post Bank Vietnam, being played at press time.
