Llavore cops 3 Head tennis junior crowns

MANILA, Philippines - Top seed Janelle Carmela Llavore imposed her will and power as she racked up three titles in the third leg of the 16th Head 2014 Junior satellite circuit national tennis annual age-group tournament at the Nazareth Tennis Club in Cagayan De Oro City over the weekend.

The 15-year-old Cagayan De Oro City native routed Carlyn Bless Guarde, 6-1, 6-2, to cop the girls’ 18-under singles crown, then outlasted Gennifer Pagente, 7-5, 5-7, 7-5, to annex the 16-under title.

Llavore later teamed up with Pagente to smother Aubrey Calma and Merkisslyn Ubay-Ubay, 8-2, and pocket the doubles 18-under diadem in the event sanctioned by the Philippine Tennis Association.  

No. 1 Dave Masqueda bagged the boys’ 18-under singles trophy after defeating No. 4 Mikko Ringia, 6-2, 6-0, in the event backed by Smart Communications, Smart Sports, Chris Sports, HEAD Graphene, Toalson and Head, the official tennis ball.  

 Allen Manlangit took the boys’ 16-under singles crown by by upending third seed Janus Ringia, 6-0, 7-5.

 

Top seed Janus Ringia came back strong in the boys’ 14-under singles class as he toppled third seed Mat Steve Palasan, 5-7, 6-4, 7-6 (5), in the championship round and No. 2 Gennifer Pagente upset Carlyn Bless Guarde in the finals of girls’ 14-under class, 6-1, 0-6, 6-4, to secure both crowns.   

 

In the 12-under category, Mark Alfred Directo ripped Prince Najeb Langitao in the boys’ finals, 6-2, 6-2, while April Minnette Bentillo whipped Merkisslyn Ubay-Ubay in the girls’ finals, 6-3, 6-4, to cop both titles.

 

In the 10-under unisex side, Rupert Tortal defeated April Minnette Bentillo, 6-3, 6-2, for the crown.

 

In the doubles class, Rolly Saga and Dawson Ormoc outshone Mikko Ringia and Allen Manlangit, 8-4, to win the boys’ 18-under plum, while Farrah Emata and Merkisslyn Ubay-Ubay blanked Gennifer Pagente and April Minette Bentillo in the 14-under girls’ doubles finals, 8-2.

 

Prince Langitao and Raffy Langitao won over Rupert Tortal and April Minette Bentillo, 8-3, for the 10-under unisex doubles crown.
