Malayan rolls to No 5, routs EDSCI

MANILA, Philippines - Malayan School of Science rolled past Escuela Da Sophia of Caloocan, 114-57, yesterday to notch its fifth straight win and a spot in the Final Four in the 2014 Summer Basketball Tournament  at the Dapitan Sports Complex.

Joshua Due scored 18 and Frank Yco added 12 markers for Malayan, which stormed to a 63-27 bulge at the half en route to the lopsided win.

EDSCI, which finished the elimination with a 2-3 card, was led by Alex Desoyo who had 20 points and Joseph Peñaredondo with 19 markers.  

The Malayan cagers thus topped the elims and secured the top spot in the Final Four in the tournament organized by the Manila Inter-Commercial Athletic Association, in cooperation with Fusion Marketing and the Manila Sports Council and supported by AUB, PNB, Emperador and media partner Manila Bulletin. 

University of Santo Tomas High School, meanwhile, crushed King’s Montessori, 119-34, with Patrick Capena and Francis Luna scoring 14 points apiece.
