PGF Jr Masters on at Baguio CC
MANILA, Philippines - After clinching spots in this year’s Junior World in San Diego, 10 standouts return to action, itching to stamp their class again in the Northern Luzon leg of the Philippine Golf Foundation Junior Masters at the Baguio County Club course today and tomorrow in Baguio City.
Junior World qualifiers Daniella Uy, Channel Avaricio, Ryan Monsalve, Annyka Pineda- Cayabyab, Jolo Timothy Magcalayo, Sean Granada, Miko Granada, Laia SimoneBarro, Josh Jorge and Zachary Castro lead a field of 79 players vying for slots in various age-groups to the national finals.
The Philippine Golf Foundation is the chief backer of the tourney serving as the third leg of the ICSTI-Jungolf Summer Circuit.
The Baguio Country Club leg is one of the four regional eliminations the standouts if which will advance to the national finals on May 26-30 at Eagle Ridge.
From Baguio, Cebu Country Club hosts the Visayas leg on April 28-29 then to Del Monte in Bukidnon for the Mindanao stop on May 1-2 and Mt. Malarayat in Lipa, Batangas for the Southern Luzon leg on May 21-22.
Up for grabs are slots in the 15-17 years where Uy and Avaricio are playing, 13-14 years which features Monsalve, the 11-12 bracket where Jorge, Magcalayo and Barro are entered, the 9-10 group where Cruz, Sean Granada and Cayabyab are playing, 7-8 where Castro is favored and the 6 and under age-group the cast of which is headed by Miko Granada.
Launched last year, the Philippine Golf Foundation is supporting the event anew as part of its talent development program that is expected to keep the jungolfers in shape for the big events lined up for them in the coming months.
