MANILA, Philippines - Daniel Miranda of Cebuana Lhuillier kicks off his bid for back-to-back crown as he leads some 60 karters in the 2014 Petron Blaze 100 ROK Karting Super Series which fires off today at the Carmona Racetrack.
Titles to be disputed in the event, sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines, are Minirok XCS, ROK Junior Blaze 100, ROK Master Blaze 100, ROK Clubman Blaze 100, ROK Senior Blaze 100, Formula Cadet Novice Ultron, Formula Cadet Expert Ultron, FSL Xtra Novice, FSL Xtra Expert, SQ 125 Sprint 4T Novice, SQ 125 Sprint 4T Expert, and SQ 125 Sprint 4T Veteran.
AUTS Racing lady driver Yvana Carangan will be moving up in the ROK Senior Blaze 100 as she joins fellow female karter Sacha Feliciano to compete against male rivals, who include Miranda, Bobby Domingo and CJ Tsui of Formula-E Racing and former top junior karters Lean Linao and 2013 Junior Karter of the Year Raymond Cudala.
Focus will also be on Jacob Ang of Eagle Cement and ART Grand Prix junior driver Gabe Cabrera, who are tipped to dispute the Junior Karter of the Year plum along with Brian Thorp of AUTS Racing.
Other contenders in the event, sponsored by Petron, Petron Blaze 100 Euro 4, Petron XCS, Petron Ultron, Petron Xtra, Petron Sprint, Magnolia Pure Water and Yokohama, are Wayne Darvin, Tai Zulberti, Flynn Jackes, Mikey Jordan, Dylan Arambulo of Tough Gear Racing, Sean Smith, Allison Julian, Jarred Kim of Tuason Racing, Bianca Bustamante of Formula-E Racing, Bobby Redpath of AUTS Racing, Keith Co, Sean Draeco McLelland and 2013 Cadet Karter of the Year Eduardo Coseteng Jr.
Meanwhile, the other legs are set May 10-11 at the Batangas Racing Circuit, June 21-22 at the Kart Track Boomland, Aug. 9-10 at the Carmona Racetrack, Sept. 13-14 at the Clark International Speedway, and Nov. 8-9 at the Carmona Racetrack.
