Aboitiz cites triathlon success, vows support

MANILA, Philippines - Aboitiz Equity Ventures renewed its full support to Philippine sports following the successful staging of the Aboitiz TRI2014 triathlon held at the Hamilo Coast in Nasugbu, Batangas recently.

In a speech during the awarding ceremony, AEV president and CEO Erramon Aboitiz expressed his thanks to the hundreds of guests who participated and emphasized the corporation’s support for sports.

“Thank you for coming here this weekend to take part in the first-ever Aboitiz TRI2014. We in the Aboitiz Group take our businesses seriously but many of you may not know that we are just as driven and as passionate when it comes to supporting a healthy and sustainable lifestyle,” Aboitiz said. “Amid the challenge of developing and sustaining a high performance culture in Aboitiz, we promote teamwork through sports.”

With the support of Aboitiz Equity Ventures, AboitizPower, UnionBank, and WeatherPhilippines together with Unilab Active Health (ULAH), Hamilo Coast, Pico Sands Hotel, Orbea, Shimano, Crystal Clear, Maxxis, Pocari Sweat, Timex, Saucony, and Pico de Loro Beach and Country Club, last weekend’s Olympic Distance triathlon drew 350 participants nationwide, including 30 sports clubs.

Aboitiz said the corporation supports several external sports events and mentioned race organizer Bike King (headed by Raul Cuevas) as a valuable partner for organizing not only the Aboitiz TRI2014 event but also the annual AboitizPower Tour of Subic.

“Today, our focus is on celebrating people. All of you who have participated in this triathlon are champions because of your personal commitment to live a healthy and active lifestyle. You clearly demonstrate an important principle of sustainable living,” Aboitiz added.
