MANILA, Philippines - Malayan School of Science dominated the second half en route to a lopsided 113-67 victory over Escuela De Saphia School of Caloocan as it notched its third straight win in the 2014 Summer League Inter-Secondary basketball tournament at the Dapitan Sports Complex in Manila.
Daniel Aguirre had 20 points and Laurenz Victoria added 12 markers for Malayan, which scored 59 points in the second half after leading by 11 at the half, 39-28.
Alex Desoyo came away with 29 points to lead EDSCI, which dropped to 1-2 in a tie with St. Vincent School.
With the victory, Malayan took the solo lead in the week-long tournament organized by the Manila Inter-Commercial Athletic Association, presented by Fusion Marketing in partnership with the City of Manila and the Manila Sports Council (MASCO) and supported by AUB, PNB, Emperador and media partner Manila Bulletin.
In the second game, St. Vincent snapped a two-game skid while dealing Ernesto Rondon HS its third straight defeat as it fashioned out a 76-59 romp.
