Pacman, Clinton on Kimmell Show

Abac Cordero - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - It’s not the first time Manny Pacquiao is sitting down with the President of the United States – past or present.

In 2009, Pacquiao was in Las Vegas for his fight with Ricky Hatton when the boxer’s staff got a surprise call.

He was asked if he had time to meet with Bill Clinton.

In no time, Pacquiao was jumping inside a limousine to meet the former President at the Four Seasons Hotel in Las Vegas.

Pacquiao wasn’t a congressman yet when he met Clinton and the boxer couldn’t even remember exactly what they talked about except that the latter wished him well for his fight.

The meeting didn’t last long but they had pictures taken together.

And just a couple of days later, Pacquiao went on to knock Hatton, the pride of England, out.

On Wednesday, Pacquiao, now a congressman, will have another chance to meet Clinton when they appear in the Jimmy Kimmel Show.

“Congressman Manny Pacquiao and President Bill Clinton will bring the political party to Jimmy Kimmel Live!” said a Top Rank teaser.

They will surely talk about Pacquiao’s coming fight with American Tim Bradley with some political touch.

Or they can sing a duet.

In 2011, as Pacquiao drummed up his fight against another American, Shane Mosley, he visited the White House and met President Barack Obama at the Oval Office.

Obama said he loves boxing as much as he loves basketball, and also wished Pacquiao good luck.

Then again, Pacquiao went on to beat Mosley.

On April 12, the Filipino icon will hope to do the same against Bradley, the undefeated American and reigning WBO welterweight champion.

Pacquiao has lost two of his last three fights, and might need all the luck he could get to win this one.

Bill Clinton, again, will be there to provide some.
