Viloria decisions Puerto Rican in comeback fight

Abac Cordero - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Brian Viloria, who was stripped of his world title in 2013, is back in the winner’s circle.

Soon, the 33-year-old Filipino who grew up in Waipahu, Hawaii might find himself vying for the world title once more.

Viloria yesterday won his comeback fight via a unanimous decision against Puerto Rico’s Juan Herrera at the Texas Station Casino in Las Vegas.

It was the first fight and the first win for Viloria since he lost the WBO and WBA super-flyweight titles to Mexico’s Juan Francisco Estrada last year in Macau.

After the stunning loss, Viloria vowed to return. But it took him quite a while and now he’s back on track.

Viloria, also the former world flyweight champion, is expected to see action soon, perhaps in the undercard of Nonito Donaire’s next fight in Macau on May 31.

Viloria improved to 33-4.
