Jungolf Inter-club fires off in 2 courses
MANILA, Philippines - Seven clubs dispute top honors in three age-group categories at the start today of the ICTSI Jungolf Inter-club championships at the Splendido Taal Golf and Country Club.
Competing in the tourney serving as the kick-off leg of the 2014 Jungolf Summer Circuit organized by the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines are Aguinaldo Golf Club, Alta Vista Golf & CC, Eastridge Golf & CC, Mt. Malarayat Golf & CC, Mimosa Golf Club, Philippine Navy Golf, Pueblo de Oro Golf Club and Valley Golf & Country Club
There are eight teams each in Division 1 and Division 2 to be played at Splendido while three teams are entered in Division 3 which will be held at the Royale Tagaytay course.
The International Container Terminal Services, Inc. is the main backer of the summer circuit with Martin Lorenzo, the Philippine Golf Foundation, Splendido, Crystal Catx, Inquirer Golf, Golf Depot and Pacsports as other sponsors.
Aguinaldo Team 2 looms as the team to beat with a solid lineup led by reigning Junior World champion Kristoffer Arevalo and the multi-titled Rupert Zaragosa.
Providing the provincial challenge are Alta Vista Golf bannered by PGF Junior Masters champion Ericka Lim and Wei Wei Gao and Pueblo De Oro with Jelbert Gamolo and Jets Sajulga.
at the helm. Navy looms as the dark horse with the quartet of Paqo Barro, Jonas Magcalayo, Ira Alido and Karl Dela Torre.
The Inter-club will be followed by the ICTSI Junior Championship (Junior World Qualifier) on April 1-4 at The Country Club for the 15-17, 13-14 and 11-12 years divisions and the 9-10 years at Capitol Hills Division.. On April 5-7, the Riviera Sports Club hosts the 6&under and 7-8 qualifiers.
