Claret stamps class in RIFA Football Cup
MANILA, Philippines - Claret School of Quezon City sent four of its age-group varsity teams into the finals of the Rizal Football Association (RIFA) Cumulative Cup, winning one and placing second in two other classes while taking home the bronze in the other to highlight the team’s sound football program.
The Claret High School Aspirants team beat Southridg, 6-1, to capture the crown, while the High School Selection, Midgets B (boys born 2001-2002), and Midgets D (born 2003-2004) teams accounted for two silver medals and Claret’s extension girls team (born 2000), known as the “Chikititas,†took home the bronze.
The Red Roosters are consistently ranked among the top teams of every RIFA age-group categories, where some players are tapped to join the various age-group national teams and its training pool.
likes of Anto Gonzales, Ariel Zerrudo, Andrew Santiago, Jed Rances and Deo Segunial, who are playing for Pachanga Diliman in the United Football League (UFL).
For the UFL Summer Youth Tournament, Claret players suited up for the Pachanga Diliman U9, U11, U13, U15, and U17 youth teams, all winning their initial games.
Claret’s football program is under the stewardship of its sports director Salvador “Bob†Salvacion and ably assisted by Dodjie Locsin and the equally passionate team of coaches from the UP varsity team in the UAAP and Pachanga Diliman in the UFL.
Coach Bob mentioned that the program’s goal is to develop well-rounded and disciplined student athletes by teaching them the value of teamwork and fair play. Coach Bob reminded the boys to always “study hard but play harder.â€
The Claret Football Center will alsp be announcing the schedule for its summer football module open to both Claretian and Non-Claretian grade school boys and girls.
