MANILA, Philippines - Philippine team members Ryan Rodney Jacolo and Jamaica Sy bashed separate rivals in the 2014 Table Tennis Association of the Philippines national junior’s qualifying tournament Friday to capture the 18-under titles at the Batangas City Convention Center.

Jacolo beat Serknight Benoya, 3-1, while Sy outshone Celine Ching of St. Stephen, 3-0.

TATAP president Ting Ledesma said the winners will earn an automatic ticket for the upcoming SEATTJC tournament for dominating the qualifying round.

“We’re thankful to the City of Batangas for helping us host this event,” said Ledesma. “Jacolo and Sy, among other players, will undergo training before competing in Brunei this year.”

In the 15-under class, John Michael Castro of Bacolod won over Reynaldo Templado of General Santos, 3-1, while Jannah Maryam Romero of Paco beat Ann Gella Borbon of Bacolod, 3-1.
