Touge Battle 2 slated at BRC

MANILA, Philippines - Inspired by its successful dry run at Clark in Pampanga, FUEL will stage the Touge Battle 2 this weekend at the Batangas Racing Circuit with a bigger field expected to see action.

The new race to hit the local tracks involves two cars chasing after each other single file through a winding course. The chase car wins if it decreases the gap between the lead car while the latter wins if it increases the gap between the two cars.

FUEL adopted the idea of a Touge Battle to have a safe form of racing especially for the newbies. In the novel race, there would be no need to overtake to win, thus lessening the risk of the competitors crashing into each other.

After the Touge Battle at Clark International Speedway in Pampanga, the organizers decided to continue the race format based on the participants’ response.

The Touge Battle 2 will be held this Saturday at the BRC. For Touge racing details, visit www.facebook.com/aggressiveline.

FUEL’s main goal is to educate and provide the aspiring racers a real circuit experience. Some newbies are intimidated to participate in races because of the already high skill level of more experienced drivers with the equally high spec of cars they drive. FUEL provides an experience for the everyday guy who has a limited budget and who has never stepped foot in the track but wants to know how it feels to drive in an actual circuit. Before the race, the organizers give basic instructions to the participants on how to drive the basic racing line to ensure safety as the drivers embark in the race of their lives.

Classes are determined by displacement and drivetrain. FWD and RWD are together then 4WD class. Displacement classifications are 1600 below, 1601-2000 and 2.0 up, and special turbo classes and sports car classes when needed. Organizers are still trying to make all categories as fair as possible to be able to provide the most exciting and closest match ups possible.

The race starts with a time attack to make pairs for the initial Touge Battle the top two drivers battle it out to see who the best of their class is. Cars are released with a certain gap depending on the track layout being used at the time. The gap will be small enough for both drivers to still see each other but big enough to avoid nose to tail racing. Safety is the highest priority.
