MANILA, Philippines – Freddie Roach understands the need for Manny Pacquiao to come out with guns blazing against Timothy Bradley in their April 12 rematch, this time not wanting the fight to go the distance.
To be able to do this, Pacquiao has to be in tip-top shape, something Roach assured to get his ward into come fight day.
In a report by Chris Robinson of hustleboss.com, the bespectacled trainer believes to beat Bradley, Pacquiao must also have an edge in the conditioning department.
“We can talk and [expletive], but at the end of the day it’s about who’s the best conditioned fighter the night of the fight,†stressed the six-time Boxing Writers Association of America Trainer of the Year awardee.
Nevertheless, Roach acknowledged Bradley’s capability to get in shape, as evidenced by the American going the distance against Pacquiao the first time they met, even escaping with a decision win.
“Bradley is a workhorse; I know he trains hard. But you know what? My guy works hard also,†he said.
Against Bradley, Pacquiao will be gunning for the WBO welterweight title, which used to be his until Bradley took it from him two years ago. Bradley, for his part, will try his best to repeat over the fighting congressman.
But Roach thinks otherwise.
“We’ll be in better shape than him and that’s why we’ll win the fight,†he ended.
