Petronas renews support to Philippine motorsports
MANILA, Philippines - Petronas Energy Philippines, Inc. (PEPI), Philippine distributor of Petronas lubricants, renewed its title sponsorship for the 2014 season of the Petronas Philippine Motorsport Championship.
It’s the second straight year that Petronas Philippines, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Malaysian national oil company Petroliam Nasional Berhad, poured its support to local racing and extended its participation on both two and four-wheel racing series slated for the 2014 Petronas Philippine motorsport calendar.
The official contract-signing was forged by PEPI marketing manager Joel Francisco, Racewell Marketing CEO Robert Ortiz, and Batangas Racing Circuit, Inc. managing head for corporate communications Nelson Gayola.
Their support includes three motorcycling events – the Pirelli Philippine Superbikes Series, FDR Phl Scooter Racing Championships, and the FDR Phl Underbone King Championships – while four-wheel racing includes the Yokohama Philippine Grand Touring Championship and Philippine Drag Racing Championship.
All the races will be held at the Clark International Speedway in Pampanga, Batangas Racing Circuit in Batangas, Carmona Race Track in Cavite and Boomland Kart Track in Pasay City, which are managed by Batangas Racing Circuit, Inc. (BRCI).
Petronas’ support also extends beyond the race track, where it will once again present Golden Wheel Awards on Feb. 28. The awards-giving body honors the achievements of the Philippines’ motorsport heroes in their respective fields.
“We are very happy with the results Petronas achieved in last year’s Philippine Motorsport Championship that we decided to extend our support in 2014. The involvement of Petronas in motorsports is growing on a global scale and we are optimistic that our presence here will help the country’s motorsports program grow as well,†said Joel Francisco, PEPI marketing manager.
Racewell Marketing, a full service motorsports agency, will manage the on-track admissions, amenities, food, hospitality and media relations. They will also now handle trade area bookings, and track advertisements for race teams, retailers and sponsors.
