Air-land-water spectacle up in Seafair 2014

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Seafair 2014, the country’s biggest yacht boat and marine exposition, is slated Feb. 20-23 at the Cultural Center Complex Bay Terminal overlooking the Philippine Navy headquarters and Manila Yacht Club.

“This will be an awesome event not only for our participants and exhibitors but also for those who will join and pay us a visit during the four-day exposition,” said Ey Bacasmas-Po of organizing Legworks Events. “We have various activities lined up for everyone.”

Leaders in the marine and nautical industry will showcase their impressive yachts and boats on the first day ushered in by colorful formal opening ceremonies led by Manila Rep. Amado Bagatsing his son, Councilor DJ Bagatsing, and Trailer Boat Club president Harley David.

On the fun side, Po said, “There will be bartending competitions on the yachts docked at the terminal featuring some of the club’s top bartenders.”

Underscoring the need for safety and security on water, the Philippine Coast Guard will be conducting tips in coping with sea emergencies while Eljan Sports will hold a clinic on the proper use of life-saving devices,” she added.

Supported by ALS Marine, Megaworld, Ayaland Premier and Robinson’s Land, SeaFair 2014 will also feature on Day 1 a helicopter tour of Manila Bay, world-famous for its sunset, while providing a panoramic bird’s-eye glimpse of the yachts and boats on display.

There will also be competitions among dingies (small boats) and how to colorfully decorate yachts in the trade fair also backed by Tow and Stow Industries, Scan Marine and Tronqued Boats.

VIPs, supporters and guests will be treated to a sumptuous barbecue party and fashion show on board one of the yachts before the day’s festivities are capped by an impressive fireworks display.

Day 2, among others, features young actress and surfing champion Mara Lopez, daughter of former beauty queen Maria Isabel Lopez, who will be giving pointers on surfing while members of the Philippine Sailing Association will hold their own talk on sailing basics.

“There will also be clinics on dragon boat rowing and jet ski demonstrations,” said Admiral Dan Villa of the exposition also supported by Bonne Maman and VMV hypoallergenics.

“There are many more surprises in store during SeaFair 2014 so we would like to invite everyone, not only yacht and boat enthusiasts, to join us at the CCP Complex Bay Terminal so they can actually see the lifestyle of the rich and famous that we often only see in magazines and on television,” Villa said.
