MANILA, Philippines - To accommodate the big number of local and foreign players seeking spots for this year’s richer, bigger ICTSI Ladies Philippine Golf Tour, the organizing Pilipinas Golf Tournaments, inc. will hold a Qualifying School beginning tomorrow (Feb. 12, Wednesday) at Eagle Ridge’s Aoki Course in Gen. Trias, Cavite.
Thailand’s Amolkan Phalajivin heads the foreign bets eyeing berths in the second season of the ICTSI LPGT, which kicked off its inaugural staging with a five-leg circuit last year. ICTSI, the long-time backer of Philippine golf, has added three more legs this year with new courses tapped to provide a different kind of challenge for the competing field.
Also joining the 54-hole qualifiers are England’s Sarah Henderson and Korean amateurs Kim So Yoo, Park Hyo Jin, Kim Dae Jeong, Kwon Seo Yon, Park You Ra and Japanese Sayo Yuka.
Local bets Pamela del Rosario and Vanessa Tsutsui have also signed up for the event. For details, contact PGT (Jocelyn Duque) at 0915-7824751 or download application at www.pgt.ph.
Cyna Rodriguez, who won two of the five legs then nipped Jayvie Agojo to clinch the Order of Merit crown in the inaugural LPGT, will topbill the cast in this year’s kickoff leg set April 16-18, the ICTSI Orchard Golf Ladies Classic at the Orchard Golf and Country Club’s Player’s Course in Cavite.
Dottie Ardina, who swept the first two legs last year but had to skip the last three to launch her LPGA bid, is also expected to see action in some legs since she is booked to play in the Symetra Tour, where she gained a card, and some legs on the LPGA circuit.
Wack Wack will host the second leg on May 13-15 for the ICTSI Wack Wack Ladies Invitational before action shifts to the challenging Tagaytay Highlands for the ICTSI Tagaytay Highlands Challenge on July 24-26.
The other legs are ICTSI Mt. Malarayat Ladies Classic on Aug. 13-15, ICTSI Riviera Ladies Invitational on Sept. 10-12, ICTSI Calatagan Ladies Classic on Sept. 17-19, ICTSI Valley Golf Ladies Challenge on Oct. 14-16, and the ICTSI Manila Southwoods Ladies Challenge on Nov. 5-7.
