Elorde to defend WBO As-Pac title vs Thai foe

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - World Boxing Organization Asia Pacific super-featherweight champion Juan Martin “Bai” Elorde will make his first title defense on Saturday at the Elorde Sports Center in Sucat Road, Parañaque.

Elorde, grandson of the great Gabriel “Flash” Elorde, will face top contender Chaiyong Sithsaithong of Thailand in a card presented by the Johnny Elorde Management International and in cooperation with the Rotary Club of Manila 101 and Cobra Energy Drink.

Elorde holds an impressive record of 15 wins, seven by way of knockout with only one defeat while Chaiyong is a veteran of 47 fights with 32 and 23 knockouts, 12 losses and three draws.

The young Elorde will have his hands full against Chaiyong.

Experts say that this will be an acid test for the Filipino who won the vacant title in March last year against hard-hitting Maxsaisai Sithsaithong with a unanimous decision.
