Que joint 7th, nets P1.2M

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Angelo Que failed to sustain a hot start and wavered at the finish, closing out with a one-over 73 to settle for joint seventh in the King’s Cup Golf Hua Hin won by veteran Prayad Marksaeng in come-from-behind fashion at the Black Mountain Golf Club in Hua Hin, Thailand yesterday.

Que, who bounced back into contention with a five-under 67 Saturday, grabbed the lead at 10-under with two birdies in the first four holes. But he fumbled with  a costly double-bogey on the par-4 No. 7. He ended with  a 36-37 for a share of seventh with Aussie Scott Hend, who made a 69, at seven-under 281 worth $26,500 (P1.2 million).

Tony Lascuna matched par 72 for the second straight day and wound up with a three-under 285 for joint 12th with four others worth $14,590 (P656,550).

Marksaeng, in fifth place at the start of the final round, rallied with an eagle and two birdies at back to fire a six-under 66 and snatch a one-stroke victory over Rikard Karlberg of Swede at 276 worth $180,000. The Swede shot a 67 for second at 277 while India’s Anirban Lahira and Thai Chapchai Nirat shared third place at 279 after a 68 and 70, respectively, in the event, the closing leg of the 2013 Asian Tour.
