NU spikers seek No. 7 vs Lady Tams

MANILA, Philippines - National University stakes its hold of second spot as it clashes with Far Eastern University today at the start of the second round action in UAAP women’s volleyball at the Arena in San Juan.

Towering sisters Dindin and Jaja Santiago will be tested by the Lady Tamaraws’ middle blockers Geneveve Casugod and Remy Palma as the Lady Bulldogs hope to score a repeat of their straight set win in the first round in the 4 p.m. match.

NU won its last four matches to finish second place in the first round with a 6-1 card behind De La Salle’s 7-0 slate, while FEU is on a two-game roll for solo fourth with 4-3.

University of Santo Tomas takes on winless University of the East at 2 p.m. with the Tigresses hoping to end a four-game skid.

The men take the floor in the morning matches with University of the Philippines facing UE at 8:30 a.m. and Ateneo battling NU at 10 a.m.

Over at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila, second round softball action also gets going with UST (5-1) staking its four-game winning run against Ateneo (1-6) at 8 a.m. and Season 75 runner-up NU (4-3) taking on De La Salle at (1-6) at 10 a.m.

UE and UP, tied at fourth with 4-3 cards, take the field at 12 noon. Unbeaten defending champion Adamson University (7-0) draws a bye.
