MANILA, Philippines - The La Salle-Dasmarinas Patriots got big points from Angelo Benitez and Alden Bin in the final set to repulse the Emilio Aguinaldo College-Cavite Vanguards, 20-25, 31-29, 23-25, 25-8, 15-11, yesterday at the Rizal Technological University gymnasium in Mandaluyong.
Benitez and Bin came up with timely service points to lead the Patriots to a 13-8 edge in the deciding set, en route to their fourth win in five games in the men’s division of the 21st National Capital Region Athletic Association (NCRAA) volleyball tournament.
Meanwhile, the RTU Blue Thunders stepped up the pace in the final set to whip the Olivarez College Sea Lions, 25-23, 25-22, 25-17, in a 64-minute encounter.
With utility man Edgar Balisco taking charge at the frontline, the Blue Thunders improved to 2-2.
The Sea Lions dropped out of the lead with their 4-2 card, allowing the Patriots to grab the top spot.
