Parañaque holds chess tourney Jan. 4

MANILA, Philippines - The 72nd edition of the Organo Gold chess tournament gets under way Jan. 4 at the fourth floor, Perez Bldg., Doña Soledad Ave. corner Australia St., Better Living Subdivision, Parañaque.

The tournament, open to untitled and rated players with NCFP rating of 1950 or below, is organized by the Parañaque Chess Association headed by Bong Perez.

It is sponsored by Rep. Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino (Tagaytay), Mayor Edwin Olivarez, Vice Mayor Rico Golez, Barangay Chairman Cho Villar, Boy Francisco, Spare and Strike, Shakey’s Pizza (SM Bicutan Branch) and Organo Gold Philippines.

The top three will receive trophies plus P3,000 to the champion, P2,000 to runner-up and P1,000 to third placer.

Category winners – top senior, top college, top high school, top elementary and top female – will receive P500.

Registration fees are P250 (regular) and P150 (kiddies).
