Lanao Norte hosts national motocross
TUBOD, Lanao del Norte, Philippines – Lanao del Norte once again proved that it truly is deserving of the title as the “Motocross Capital of the Philippines†with another successful hosting of the highly anticipated final leg of Philippine Motocross Championships.
The three-day motocross event which started on Dec. 6-8 is jointly organized by the provincial LGU and SEL-J Sports.
“This is the first time that we are making the motocross races free to the public. This is our humble way of saying thank you for all the support we received from the good people of Lanao del Norte for our social, infrastructure and livelihood programs,†Gov. Khalid Dimaporo said.
The Philippine Motocross Championships is one of the highlights of Lanao del Norte’s multi-event Motorsports Weekend.
Motocross top winners include Mclean Aguilar (85cc), Salmer Longakit (Novice Production), Bill Pepito (65cc), Earl Olario (Intermediate Local), Pepeng Mar (Expert Local), Salmir Longakit (125 Enduro), Jed Luna (Open Enduro), Paen Unahon (Underbone Open), Badong Badong (Novice Prod Local), Pain Unahon (Underbone 125), and Jannele Saulog (Ladies).
Kennedy Terenife (Beginner Open Production), Rhowell Mangosong (Pro Lites), Bornok Mangosong (Pro Open), Jet Oliveros (Executive A), Jay Lacnit (Veterans), Jed Luna (Local Open Enduro), Jacob Orbe (Intermediate), Jaypee Gaid (50cc), Bamby Durante (Executive B), Jacob Orbe (Expert Open), Aidan Lacnit (Starter), Jay Lacnit (Executive Lites), Ken Cabresos (125 Enduro).
Simultaneously, the provincial government also hosted the first-ever Mindanao Endurance Ride dubbed as ‘Mindanao EnduRun 2013’ which was participated by several bike clubs from Tacurong City, Cagayan de Oro City, Bukidnon and Davao City.
Another highlight during the weekend was the All-Star Celebrity Basketball game between movie and TV personalities from Manila and local players from the Philippine Army. Among the celebrities present were Carlos Agassi, Long Mejia, Emilio Garcia, Paolo Paraiso, Joko Diaz, Gene Padilla, and Jordan Herrera.
The motocross event was also supported by MSU-IIT Multi-Purpose Cooperative, Nature’s Spring, MCOCO-Malingao, Dunkin Donuts, Sel-J Pharma Group Companies, Serviamus Foundation Inc., and JCI-Panguil Bay Lanao del Norte Chapter.
