The PBA enjoyed a banner year where box office records were broken.

Talk n Text Tropang Texters became the first team in the league’s history to win the perpetual trophy by clinching the Philippine Cup for three straight seasons.

In the Commissioner’s Cup, Alaska finally put the monkey off its back winning its first title in the post-Tim Cone era with a young Luigi Trillo piloting the Aces to a three-game sweep of Barangay Ginebra in the Finals.

The Game Three of the Finals between Alaska and Ginebra drew a new league record of 23,436 fans that eclipsed the 23,108 record set during the 2008 Fiesta Cup Finals when Ginebra won its last championship at the expense of Air21 in Game Seven.

The Governors’ Cup saw Cone tying his coaching idol Baby Dalupan with 15 PBA titles, the most in league history, after San Mig Coffee beat Petron in another epic Game Seven.

Overall, the league earned P200 million gross receipts nearly doubling the record set by the league last year with P114 million.
