Codiñera named new Arellano coach

MANILA, Philippines - PBA  legend Jerry Codiñera has been named the new head coach of the Arellano Chiefs, replacing Koy Banal.

Codiñera signed the three-year contract with Arellano’s vice president for marketing Val Cayco and was officially welcomed to the Arellano family by Peter Cayco, the school’s NCAA Mancom representative.

Codiñera, whose last coaching stint was with the UE Warriors in the UAAP, said: “I’m happy with the trust given me by Arellano. I’m happy to be back handling a college team and this should serve as a new challenge to my basketball career. The commitment is to have a better finish for the next season of the NCAA.”

Codiñera started training with the Chiefs last Friday. “I saw a strong line-up built by coach Koy and we just have to keep on improving. I have close to eight months to work on that.”
