Tyson forced to scrap British promo tour

The Philippine Star

LONDON — Mike Tyson has had to scrap an appearance in London to promote his new autobiography after discovering he is banned from entering Britain because of his past criminal convictions.

HarperCollins, the publisher of his book "Undisputed Truth," says the former heavyweight champion was unaware of a change in British immigration laws last year that toughened up rules on entering the country for those convicted of serious criminal offenses.

Tyson served three years in prison for rape and also has convictions for assault, cocaine possession and drunk-driving.

Tyson is booked in for an eight-night British tour of his one-man Broadway show in March.

HarperCollins says the promotional tour for his book has been re-routed to Paris.
