Banario eyes revenge vs Oishi

Joey Villar - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Honorio Banario seeks to regain the featherweight title he lost to Japanese Koji Oishi as they clash tonight in the ONE Fighting Championship: Moment of Truth at the MOA Arena in Pasay City.

Banario was knocked out by Oishi with a flurry of punches in the second round of their title match in ONE FC: Rise to Power also at the MOA Arena, losing the title he won over Eric Kelly in ONE FC: Return of Warriors in Kuala Lumpur last February.

“I’ve trained really hard for this re-match and I don’t want to disappoint my countrymen again,” said Banario in Filipino.

Also trying to get back on track following heartbreaking losses are Kevin Belingon and Eduard Folayang.

Both training under Team Lakay, Belingon tangles with David Aranda Santacana in bantamweight tiff while Folayang, a former Southeast Asian Games and Asian Games medalist, faces off with Vincent Latoel in a lightweight showdown.

Filipinos Geje Eustaquio and Eugene Toquero also duel in the lightweight category.

Ruel Catalan subs in for injured brother Rene, another veteran internationalist, against Khim Dima in a flyweight clash.
