MANILA, Philippines - Uno High School needed an extra five minutes to repeat over St. Jude Catholic School, 57-55, while Grace Christian College outlasted Philippine Cultural College, 52-45, in the first Philippine Ching Yuen Athletic Association (PCYAA) Basketball Championships at the Uno High School in Manila over the weekend.

Kyle Christian Tan led the Uneans with 22 points spiked by five triples, but it was Clinton Choa who made the difference, tying the score with a triple before scoring on a drive which turned to be the marginal basket.

St. Jude still had a chance to send the game into second overtime – or even a win with a triple – but misfired twice.

With the win, Uno High extended its winning run to six while handing St. Jude its second straight defeat in six matches in the tournament sponsored by Boysen Paints, Valentino Watches and Clocks, Sony Xperia , Duralite Sandals and Nougat Peanut Bar.

James Oliver Ung banged in 12 markers as GCC also reasserted its mastery over PCC for a 3-3 mark. GCC beat PCC in the first round, 90-82, also in overtime.

St. Peter the Apostle School, meantime, exacted sweet revenge at Makati Gospel Church-New Life Christian Academy, 54-39. In their first-round encounter, MGC-New Life Christian Academy downed the Peterians, 68-58.

In the Developmental division, MGC-NLCA streaked to its sixth straight win by crushing Uno High, 53-30, while Grace Christian College improved to 4-2 by overpowering St. Jude Catholic School, 68-41.
