SCUAA kicks off season today at Quirino G’stand

MANILA, Philippines - The State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association-National Capital Region kicks off its 26th season today at the Quirino Grandstand.

Asst. Prof. Gigi Manaog of host Philippine State College of Aeronautics, chairman of the board of sports management of the 26th SCUAA-NCR Games, said they have prepared a dazzling show from WOW Fireworks to entertain the 5,000 participants in the opener, which begins at 3 p.m.

Athletes from 24 sports will have their traditional parade and will be joined by program participants, students, alumni and fans.

SCUAA chairman of executive board Dr. Bernard Ramirez of PhilSCA and Sen. Pia Cayetano lead the guest list.

A ceremonial flight will also be conducted during the ceremonies, symbolic of the area of specialization of the host institution. PhilSCA students will provide a ground demonstration with the theme “Air Marshaller.”

This year’s slogan is “Moving Ahead Towards Sports Excellence.”

Action gets going Dec. 2. The participating schools are PhilSCA, Philippine Normal University, Rizal Technological U, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Eulogio Amang Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology, Technological University of the Philippines, and Marikina Polytechnic College.
