Diliman, SB-Alabang, CSA prevail in Got Skills caging
MANILA, Philippines - Diliman Preparatory School, San Beda-Alabang and Colegio San Agustin turned back separate rivals in their respective divisions last Sunday on Week 2 in the first Got Skills Age Group Basketball Showdown at the Xavier School Sports Complex in San Juan.
Amcus Martin Araza fired 10 points and had seven rebounds to emerge as best player of the game for DPS, which waylaid Colegio San Agustin, 67-18, and posted their first win in the Group B of the 13-under division with La Salle Greenhills-PAYA and Don Bosco Technical Institute.
Gabriel Flores made 14 points as San Beda-Alabang, which won over St. Mary’s Quezon City, 66-40, in the 12-under action and tow Colegio San Agustin and Colegio San Benildo in the early lead.
A total of 1,122 kids saw action in this 10-weekend long cagefest which is supported by Chris Sports, SKLZ Philippines, Fitness and Athletics Company, No Curfew Watch Wize and Ope, and Goody Gulp Milk Drink.
Joshua Yee topscored for 16 points as San Beda-Alabang downed La Salle-Zobel, 37-26, in the 11-under and take the upperhand with Xavier School, San Beda-Taytay and St. Francis School-Sta. Ana.
CSA beat La Salle-Zobel, 20-19, in the 10-under category, with Heinrich Quintong making seven points, and this put them in front of the standings with Marist and DBTI.
DBTI also made its presence felt in the 9-under side, stopping San Beda-Alabang, 30-22, with Emmanuel Nathan Victoria hitting eight points. Xavier School and Marist also posted wins.
In 13-under other games, Joel Cagulangan was the best player of the game for LSGH-PAYA, which defeated Southeastern College, 91-23, and Clint Escamis dished out 17 points in SBC-Alabang’s 58-52 victory over DBTI.
Over in the 12-under, John Benedict Rigor eked out 17 points in CSA’s 52-40 win over St. Francis, and San Benildo thwarted La Salle-Zobel, 49-46, with Angelo Lim Aniceto shooting 30.
