Crucis headlines Cojuangco Cup cast

MANILA, Philippines - Six imported gallopers fight it out for top honors in the P2 million Amb. Eduardo Cojuangco Jr. Cup set Sunday at MetroTurf, in Malvar, Batangas.

Led by the favored Crucis (Southern Image-Dixie Parade), the event also features Gentle Irony (Exceed And Exce-Gentle Call), Juggling Act (Giant’s Causeway-Picadilly Circus), Kornati Islands, Oh Oh Seven, Tritanic (Truly Dane-Troika Dancer).

Up for grabs in the 2,000-meter race is the top P1.2-million purse put up by the sponsoring Philippine Racing Commission.

The runner-up will receive P450,000 while the third placer gets P250,000, fourth P100,000. The breeder of the winning horse will receive P60,000.

Owing to her recent two victories in the Philracom Imported-Local Championship Series, Crucis (trained by Dave de la Cruz and owned by former Philracom commissioner Marlon Cunanan) is tipped as the horse to beat. in the event which also serves as her build-up for her keenly awaited match-up with last year’s Horse of the Year Hagdang Bato.
